Indo- Gothic Architecture.
The Indian Institute of Advanced Study was established in 1964, inspired by the vision of promoting scholarly research and advanced studies among Indian scholars and researchers.
IIAS is situated in the historic Viceregal Lodge, originally built in 1888 as the summer residence of British viceroys. The charming architecture and serene surroundings contribute to an ideal environment for academic pursuits.
Christ Church was built in 1857, making it one of the oldest churches in North India. It was constructed during the British colonial period, primarily to serve the British population residing in Shimla, which was then the summer capital of British India.
The church was designed by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas, and its architecture is a fine example of neo-Gothic style, characterized by pointed arches, intricate stained glass windows, and decorative detailing.
